Both the destinations are mesmerizing and inhabit blissful weather conditions, copious enough in compelling honeymooners to fall head over heels with each other. Besides the shared notions of romanticism, the war between both the destinations doesn’t end here. If Shimla is suffused with an amalgam of tradition and modernity, Manali holding the faculties of serendipity, raw beauty, shimmering blanket of snow capped mountains, stand with ace in front of the latter ones. Although this seamless war is completely psychological but with a few points of distinction, the conclusion doesn’t seems to look any way ahead. In this mind scuffle, the whole situation turns bland, especially for the people who are really excited to choose one destination amongst the options bestowed as Delhi Weekend Getaways. Shimla and Manali both being the famous hill stations in Himachal Pradesh have been an ideological weekend getaway from Delhi. With the presence of invigorating climatic conditions, both the destinations could greet you with an exhilarating holidaying experience. Manali in comparison to Shimla receive more snowfall between the months of November to March. Looking at the previous records, from November2009 to February 2010, Manali remained an unrivaled contender in winning hearts of the foreign as well domestic travelers where as its sibling Shimla kept wailing for the snowfall with parched throat. But plying to extreme bewilderment, this time Shimla received heavy snowfall after the gap of 18 years on November 2009. Since the year 1991 Shimla never received snow fall. Succumbing to the respite in snowfall from many years, 2009 proved to be the year of immense elation amongst the hoteliers and travelers as well. Following the trail, Manali although don’t have swaggering architectural pride like Shimla but its raw beauty, tattered mud morbid houses and the sweet smell of well known ‘Momos’, would make you feel like flying in the air.  While at the same time, Shimla being the erstwhile summer capital of Britishers is blessed with the Cathedral church—the clock as the memorabilia, State museum—2kms from Shimla, and The Mall road as the famous place to hang around provide a unique character to Shimla. There are around 17 premium hotels in Shimla where as Manali giving a tough fight to the latter ones, scores high with 28 premium hotels. Eventually, if you have a limited budget and want all the facilities at reasonable price then you of course have got a reason to rejoice because there are around 98 hotels in Shimla where as with an impulsive figure of 104 budget hotels in Manali, you have good number of alternatives to chose from the sprawling accommodations. The hotels in India carrying the traits of indispensable faculties, impresses every vacationer to plan their stay here exclusively. Suffused with impeccable hospitality standard, well furnished floors, 24 hours rooms service, serene ambiance, the hotels in India would leave you surprise by its warmth.

Coming back from other facts, Shimla has infinite number of special hang out places like The Mall, Observatory hill; Scandal point, Naldehra, Annandale, Viceregal Lodge, Movie Theater and roller skating hall are some of the destinations worth visiting in Shimla. While to score back, Manali with its killer instinct rebukes Shimla with the lineage of marvelous destinations like with the tourists hot spots like the Castle, Roerich house, Club House, Rahala Water Falls, Zana Water Falls and Rosy Water Falls respectively. Consequently, in the above context, Manali with excellent number of destinations looks like hurling its victory flag. With hefty numbers of lakes and rivers like Beas, Nehru kund, Hot water springs, Hidamba Temple and famous Moon Lake at Chandra Tal, Manali apprehends to be no less than a warrior whose saga is itself the bonhomie of valor and splendor. Getting too whimsical, Shimla hit back with full vigor by displaying its glamour and sheen, showcasing the Skating festival, Ice Skating Carnival, Rhyali Festival during the months of December to March. The latter one; Manali celebrates cultural festivals which potrays the reflection of Indo-Chinese culture. But still Manali doesn’t have strong element of dynamism as shared by its counter part Shimla.

The perfect amalgamation of tradition and modernity drapes Shimla as the most visited destination during summers and winters. Whereas Manali with an essence of raw beauty, monasteries, well known pizza hubs and log houses for sojourns, all together, could magnetize your senses to plan an entire stay here solely. But still you can say it’s a tie between both the two destinations as it is still not known which one is better. Albeit, when you will try to calculate the scores between both the destinations, every time one destination would seem like waging and winning the war. Shimla offers you with camping options at Mashobra and Baldian--Shimla Distt.(14 KMS from Shimla)whereas Manali bestows you to mellow out at Lambadug and Gallant thatch at Great Himalayan National Park exclusively. Both being best known amongst honeymoon couples, would entice you to spend some good time intertwining your soul with the laced ones. This may certainly weave a beautiful tail spin in your mind, and you may also feel like pressing a tongue with in the cheeks because Shimla and Manali caressed with the an excellent trekking hot spots would aggravate your adrenaline rush at all time high, compelling you to try your hands on rock climbing  and rafting. The Skiing at Kufri, Paragliding at Kangra Valley-- around Shimla are surely some of the options where you can most probably flex your muscles and hop to extreme magnitudes amidst snow capped mountains. Manali also greet the revelers with skiing training at Solang which is an extra scoring point, when put in close tug of war with Shimla. Succumbing to the food joints and dhabas, Shimla has infinite number of road side dhabas which offer authentic cuisines specifically embracing a Punjaabi flavor. One of them that is quiet famous is Giani Dhaba, 13 kms away from Shimla at Dharam pur. There are immense numbers of Multi cuisines restaurant at Shimla, especially at Mall Road, lakar Bazaar and summers hill. Although Manali has also good dhabas on the road sides at Rohtang Pass, Manali Market and Old Manali but they don’t offer that much authentic cuisines like the latter ones; as Most of them are run by Tibetan families. Shimla is just 346 KMS whereas Manali perched at 570 KMS is too far in terms of driving distance. But it is obvious that this weak point would not stop or resist back packers to rejuvenate and relax at Manali.

Apart from all, the Bollywood industry never remained untouched by the hallowing effect of beautiful landscapes ,the award winning movie starring Amitabh Bachchan and Raani Mujherjee`s `Black` was shot in Shimla. Similarly, Manali would give you the goosebumps when you will visit at the places like Rohtang Pass where romantic flick `Jab We Met was shot. Fittingly, Manali being the queen of lonely picturesque landscapes shares an equal stance with Shimla, which most probably creates a winning situation for both. Now it is the sole decision of travelers which one to be visited first? Shimla or Manali.
